Disease modelling and drug development
Livegrid models are particularly well suited to studies in which culture duration, tissue mass, controlled exposure, and functional maturity are critical.
We are developing application-specific assays using a common platform for internally perfused 3D tissues. Our initial focus is on liver models for drug metabolism and safety, and on neural models requiring sustained viability and access for functional measurements.
Hepatic clearance and PK
Quantitative metabolism over extended sampling windows
Low-turnover compounds can require prolonged sampling while hepatic function remains stable. This makes intrinsic clearance difficult to quantify using short-lived assays or systems that generate only small changes in the concentration of the parent compound.
We are developing perfused liver tissue models for quantitative studies of low-clearance compounds, metabolite formation, and time-dependent kinetics, supporting IVIVE and PBPK modelling.
Repeated-dose liver safety
Time-resolved assessment of delayed and chronic injury
Some forms of drug-induced liver injury develop gradually or only after repeated exposure. Cholestatic liability can also depend on the progressive disruption of bile-acid synthesis and transport, leading to bile-acid accumulation.
We are developing perfused liver models for repeated and prolonged compound exposure, supporting the assessment of hepatocellular and cholestatic DILI, cumulative injury, adaptive versus progressive responses, and reversibility following compound withdrawal.
Neural function and disease
Stable neural tissues for long-duration functional studies
Neural tissues have high metabolic requirements, while chronic electrophysiology, neurotoxicity, and disease modelling require stable tissue function over prolonged periods.
Livegrid is developing perfused neural tissues for neurotoxicity, epilepsy modelling, and long-term functional studies, including chronic electrophysiology and repeated pharmacological exposure.
Partner-specific model development
Livegrid collaborates with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, CROs, and academic partners on projects for which existing in vitro models are insufficient.
Each project is defined by a specific biological question, cell source, compound class, and set of measurable endpoints.
